    Hi folks,

I think this is a simple problem on my acer 5685 laptop. Whilst playing movies etc I keep having to turn the display brightness back up to 70% or whatever I need from what looks like the 0% brightness level using "Fn" + "Left/Right Arrow key".

This happens on the battery (no ac power connected) and I assume something is happening in the power management (Acer ePower..) to say move it from one power scheme to the "Maximum Battery" power scheme say. Can I over-ride this somehow??

I assume it is just a simple check box somewhere I need to set.

    Hope you can help

I do not believe ePowerManagement lets you save the settings you change in their profiles, so you should try removing ePowerManagement and go into Acer eManager and go into the eSettings option and look around for an option to automatically dim the LCD and change it.

On my laptop it did not come with ePowerManagement and I was able to disable the dimming through Acer eManager. I am not sure about the Aspire 5685 and how things are different with the new Empowering Utilities. but still you should try and go into Acer eManager then eSettings and look around.

Had a look and cannot find that option.

I will take a look at some other power management software.

SORTED THE DIMMING PROBLEM I THINK.....

I was just a case of changing the LCD brightness on the MAXIMUM BATTERY power scheme as it seems whilst playing dvds etc the laptop reverts to this power scheme.

So a simple fix in the end I hope!!!

    Ta for the tips...
