    Hi folks,

Just curious to know if Acer manufacture their own motherboards. I have been looking around for an "unlocked" BIOS for my Acer 5685 so that I could possibly optimise further by undervolting the 945GM chipset and memory etc. If Acer do not then I would like to know exactly what board it is so that I can flash it with a non-Acer "locked" BIOS.

    Any ideas???

    Jools

PS Impression I get from reading around is that Acer probably do make their own or have them custom made such that any BIOS'es from the manufacturer's website (ASUS. MSI for example) are useless.

Its most likely a motherboard built by some other company, to Acer's design. That means that Acer will have priority over the BIOS features, and you may not be able to get a BIOS from the actual motherboard manufacturer.
