Like the topic suggests, I am interested to see if any of the users here have an Acer or have had a chance to use one.
If there are could we have your opinions on them? Would you recommend them to a friend? Why or why not? Etc.

I used the Ferrari branded model and liked it a lot. I give Acer the nod for great quality, international support and styling.

I purchased an Acer Travelmate 800LCi as my first laptop and I don't regret it at all. I use it primary for school for typing notes and doing programming assignments, but it has adequate power for playing games as well. It has a very nice balance of screen size/resolution, power, features, weight and battery life. You just can't find that from Dell

I do. I just purchased Acer Ferrari 3000 this week from Harmony.com
for
$1749 + $18.99 (s/h)
and I bought 3 yrs extended warranty on top of 1 yr OEM for $149
My last last laptop = Toshiba Tecra 8000
That's all for now ^_^

I just purchased an Acer Aspire 2001 from Pagecomputer.com for ~$1391 including S/H.
Excellent design, fit and finish. Runs cool (no hot spots) and very silent.
Takes 35 sec to boot up, slot CD loading, sub wooper, seperate media control buttons and LCD windows which displays media infos. Can watch DVD and play CD without booting up Windows XP, about 10 sec to do this way.
The notebook comes with mini pci wifi "b" card, but it can be upgraded to mini pci "g" card in less than 1 minute, if anyone concerns about wireless spec. The only downside I would say is a little stiff mouse pad button. -
Yes I just purchased a Aspire 2002Lci 3 weeks ago and I absolutely love it. There are not many thin & light with a 15.4 widescreen display - especially one with a slot loading optical drive. I love the slot loading design - I hate how flimsy the pop out tray always seems. So after 3 weeks of daily use:
Pros:
15.4 widescreen display - clear & bright (no bad pixels)
Relatively thin
Aluminum lid and side panels
Great build, fit & finish quality (solid feeling)
S-video & LCD panel allows it to be a DVD player for TV
Wide aspect touch pad with metal buttons & 4way scroll
E-mail button can be configured to flash when you have mail
Really quiet
Cons:
15.4 screen could be higher res (1400x1050)
Power connector too close to the K-security slot
Optional Bluetooth is not available in North America
No battery compartment dummy door/panel when battery is out
Stiff touch pad buttons (but I programmed the corners instead)
More metal in the case
Smaller and thinner (of course)
Remote to control Arcade with lid closed
Bottom can get warm
By the way, the CaseLogic neoprene notebook sleeve NCLE2 fits this widescreen notebook like a glove! I would definitely recommend this to any of my friends. I'am comming off of a 6 year old Sony F-160 which served me admirably - but the Acer was priced much better (and more value for the money). -

i've just ordered one...after or your compliments....I'm waiting so anxiously for it!
one question...how long does it take you to burn DVDs and what's the CD-RW speed? As far as i've heard, DVD-RW is x1...isnt that kinda slow? -
I have a travelmate 2700 wlmi
it has a 3ghz processor with HT technology
came with 256mb sodimm 333mhz ram, i have put an extra 512 in. can surport 2 gig, ( 2 1gig sticks)
15.4inch widescreen tft display
60gig hard drive, comes partitioned into 2 30gig wich is usefull if windows crashes and you have to reinstall it
Graphics - ati mobility radeon 9000 igp which comes set at 32mb but changeing an option in the bios can put it up to 128mb, ( shared ram so don't set it to 128 unless you upgrade the ram)
dvd rw dual layer at 8x
4 usb 2.0 ports
infrared
wireless
pcmia slot
cons:
a bit bulky and heavy
1 hour batery life ( far less when gaming)
overall a great performace machine for under £600 ( i can't rember how much it was roughly betwwen £540 - £600)
a powerfull wireless card, longer range than most
great for gameing and you can overclock the graphics using ATI tool, i managed to get an extra 27 mhz on top of the 300mhz core voltage, any higher and it becomes unstable -

Pros - Price / Performance / Wieght / Design / Options
Cons - Battery / Space Bar (somewhat touchy)
Yes I would recommend one. -
I recently picked up a TM3002WTCi and I'm very pleased with it.

I've got a couple.
Have to admit, they're quite great for someone who's on a budget. I'd choose them over an HP. Not knocking on the HP's, they're wonderful systems, but I think the screen quality on the Acer's overal are a tad better. Afterall, you're staring at the screen 100% of the time that you're on the laptop, right? Might as well make it as enjoyable as you can. -
Just purchased Aspire 3613 at $450. A BF deal from Staples. Great screen, quiet, and wifi picks up everything. Battery life has me concerned but not a major issue for me. :budget:
Does anyone here own an Acer?
