I know that the 5102 doesn't have s-video out but does the VGA card have TV-Out function capability through the VGA connector?

I saw one of these VGA to TV convertors but they will only work if the VGA card has has TV-Out function capability through the VGA connector.

Basically is there a way to direct the output from the 5102 to a TV?

    Hi Lad,

have you already found an answer to your question? The graphic card is a ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 but I can't really find any useful information.

Hi Oliver, I found a few links that suggest it does:

Look for the TV Out section:

    http://ati.amd.com/products/Radeonxpress1100mob/specs.html

One of the posters says that he's used a VGA to TV convertor:

The thing is I'm not sure if this means that all implementations of the graphics card has TV out (eg are there variations where its not included on say, cheaper laptops such as the 5102?) and does it mean you can use one of these cables to connect it to a TV (the second link suggests you can). Don't seem to be many people who have used one and given a thumbs up that it'll work with the 5102.

My 5102 has a VGA connector and a RF-in jack on the back.

    There are models that have a S-Video, a VGA, a DVI, and a RF-jack.
There is even one that comes with a TV card. You will have to check the specs.

Yes, it will work. I'm using one of those cables to watch S-Video output on my 5102 right now. (And the E-Bay cable was pretty cheap)

While ATI's software makes turning the extra monitor on/off easy, I will say that I found that tweaking the video's color, balance etc. (so it looks good on my TV and bright enough) was a huge pain using ATI's Catalyst software, though.

If you're still not sure (like I was), just think about how the cable is about $5 with shipping, and having that option available for presentations or just watching video while working on the computer is worth way more than $5...

All eBay cables have arrived and it works perfect. Good quality. :D

I bought 3 cables in total.

    1. VGA to S-Video and RC Jack adapter

    2. S-Video to RCA

    3. 3.5mm to 2male audio
    http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=220052435978&rd=1&rd=1

The first one is the adapter, the second one connects the adapter with the Video IN of my TV and the third one is for sound.
