I don't have any devices to test, but I assume not since I sure can't find anything saying it has.
-
-
I think some cheap models don't have...
-
Mine has bluetooth. I have the version with the T7300 processor.
-
the one from BestBuy w/ HD-DVD has it and I just bought one
-
Have you used any blue tooth devices on yours? -
well, i haven't tested it yet, but I assumed if it says it's there... it would be there, no biggie though... even without bluetooth heck of a deal.
-
-
it's odd, because specs on bestbuy do not mention bluetooth
-
To those that have bluetooth, do you also have turbo memory? THis is just a wild theory, but perhaps those who have bluetooth, do not have turbo memory?
Mine doesn't come with bluetooth, and that results in the "no device" message that is displayed when the button is pressed. It seems to have been deliberately left out, as most of Europe seems to have models without bluetooth. -
Well mine has bluetooth, but I don't see turbo memory anywhere...
Any way to make sure if it has?? -
Bestbuy usa as5920G does NOT have bluetooth.
-
I just bought 1299 BestBuy model and it does NOT have Bluetooth, check in Device Manager
-
If so, where would you get it from...Acer?
It just feels weird having a button that does nothing. -
I bought mine in Belgium, which is still Europe, and it has bluetooth and 1G turbo cache. -
Erm...when you say turbocache, you aren't referring to the "Up to 1024 Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT Turbocache" are you?
y
Just checking...dont mean to say you can't tell the difference... -
Intel Turbo Memory
Total cache size: 1GB -
i think you guys comparing $1300 version (w/ HD-DVD) to 2000 version (with T7300)
the one from BestBuy w/ HD-DVD does NOT come with bluetooh -
The UK model (from laptopsdirect.co.uk) doesn't have bluetooth but does have Turbo Memory - it says on the product feedback page on there site.
-
How can I see if it has turbo memory???
I installed Intel Turbo Memory drivers, but nothing...Just Intel Matrix Storage... -

My 1.5ghz Best Buy model does not have BlueTooth or Wireless "Draft-N" capability.
The wireless card in my Best Buy model is a Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG.
http://www.intel.com/network/connectivity/products/wireless/prowireless_mobile.htm
The wireless card in the Best Buy 2.0ghz model (found on the Best Buy business website $1,999.99) is a Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN... and it has BlueTooth.
http://www.intel.com/network/connectivity/products/wireless/wireless_n/overview.htm
The Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN board should swap right in with nothing more than adding the proper driver... If i knew the Acer part number for it!!
BTW... Would swapping from a 3945ABG to the 4965AGN add BlueTooth to my 5920G??? Or would another board along with an Acer part number be needed for that as well. -
-
>My 2.0Ghz have everything except Turbo Memory & Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN.
hmmm... I know the Best Buy USA 2.0ghz has everything on it..
http://www.bestbuybusiness.com/bbfb...etail&showAddButton=true&productID=BB10769634
So you also have the 3945ABG as i do, but with BlueTooth.. And no Turbo Memory. I thought Turbo Memory was in all Santa Rosa chipsets. Where do you look to find out if you have the Turbo Memory. -
Found Nice article From AnandTech
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/intel/showdoc.aspx?i=3009
I only use WiFi to connect broadband internet ,So I think 3945ABG is more than enough (coz my broadband speed is just 2Mbps) -
So.... Is the BlueTooth on a seperate board? Or is it part of the 4965AGN?
-
I bought my set from Singapore,
I got a SUPERB bargain for my 5920g, costing me 2098 SGD which means around 1400 USD
It has the T7300 processor, bluetooth (i use my SE phone as a remote controller) 256mb dedicated vram and 768mb turbo memory,
intel wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN -
But No 4965AGN,Others same as you -
Mine is also the big model with T7300,has 768mb turbocache, bluetooth and wifi link 4965AGN.
It doesn't have Turbo Memory. -
Can Turbo Memory get activated from useing firmware/driver files from a 5920G that has it?
I don't see any mention of it on my 1.5ghz model (no surprise). Where would i look to see if i had it within the notebook. -
And yes,if you have turbo memory, you install robson/intel turbo memory drivers. -
>Check the sticker showing the specs at the right corner of the laptop..
I have no mention of it on the sticker to the right side of the touch pad.
The 1.5ghz Best Buy must be the most stripped down 5920G yet...
BTW.... Where is the BlueTooth module located? -
If nothing happens then no turbo memory... -
Ok... This is weird.. I have no Indication of having BlueTooth or Turbo Memory but this pops up when i start my computer, and this is what is in my C:\DRV.
I'm not sure what having these folders mean, but i do not have BlueTooth showing anywhere in the device manager.Attached Files:
-
-
Inside Robson folder is the Intel Turbo Memory Driver.
(this folder contains all the system's drivers,so you can burn it at a disk and free some space..)
Nice birdy at the wallpaper btw -
Sooo... I don't have BlueTooth?? How can it be added... The birdy wants to know..lol!
-
If nothing happens,then...
Generally you can install a system analyzer, like Everest and check everything about your laptor.. -
yea.... nothing happened.. What a joke!!! They provide a BlueTooth specific button that does nothing.... Just doesn't seem right.
Thanks for the Everest tip.. -
So I think mine doesn't have Turbo Memory
Hey can you enable HDD write cache feature????? I try to enable it but it's not working. It show msg "Device not allow to enable it"like something after i try to apply it from device manager.. -
About HDD write cache feature I don't know...Maybe it's hardware limmitation.. -

I have been told by an official Acer spare part distributor that the correct bluetooth module for the 5920G is no. 54.TAXV7.001 - you would also need cable no. 50.AGW07.007 to install it.
The problem is that I have not yet been able to locate the connector where the module would be connected to. Any idea anyone?
Chris -
That's good information... Still waiting for someone to snap a shot of where the BlueTooth resides... But i have a feeling it may require moderate teardown to get to the exact location. Your best bet would be to first get a service manual from your Acer spare parts distributer... As then you can do just about everything. Do you have a link to them... I am interesed in getting a service manual... As well as those BlueTooth part numbers... Did your distributor also mention a bracket, as other Acer models installations are showing module, cable, and bracket.
-
The distributor is currently trying to get the info about the location from his contact within acer - they don't have any documentation for the 5920 themselves yet.
He just mentioned the module (I already got it at home) and the cable (on order) and hope that with the info on where it should go to I can install it fairly easy ...
As soon as I find out more - I will post it here.
Chris -
Thanks... Keep us posted, i'm sure alot of folks would like to know where to purchase the parts, and where they go.
-
I now got the official service guide for the 5920 and there you get all the step-by-step instructions on how to replace parts of the machine (incl. the bluetooth module and pictures where it is located). The BT module is on the upper side (underneath the keyboard as it looks - so the cover on the bottom doesn't help.
As soon as I got the missing cable I will install the module according to the instructions and report here ;-)
If anyone is interested in a copy of the PDF of the service guide - drop me your email ...
Chris -
Email sent.. Thank you... That is great news.. You are the man for this one!!!!
btw.. Does your supplier take parts orders from everyone... or just techs?
Also.. I am also looking to add the missing 2nd Mini PCI-E connector for the turbo-memory... For some reason, the Best Buy 1.5ghz model does not have the connector.. The solder pads where the connector sits, and screw holes are there though.. Hopefully the connector will install with just the two screws. -
Just get a small slim BT USB dongle like I did. It only cost me $6.11 including shipping:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.83
It's so small I'm scared I'll lose it, but I keep it in a pouch in my laptop bag. -
IMO.. Nothing beats having the factory BlueTooth.. But that is a good option for those that don't want to go the extra mile on having it.
Does the 5920 have blue-tooth?
