My aspire 5315 over heats occasionally and when i am using it it shuts down due to heating problems. I use "notebook hardware control 2.0" to monitor my hardware, and at time it shows my cpu temp to be 98 degree centigrade, at 99 it shuts down.

So what im asking that is this a normal issue, do you guys owning this model have this problem as well.

Today i used "Speedfan" to find out any info about my cpu fans, but it gave me no info, like no fans found.

Can some one plz install this app in their aspire 5315 and tell me if u get the same results.

edit: k even if someone else does not have this app or does not want to install it. i stilll find it a bit odd for a laptop to be with out a cpu fan, dont u.

like this is how the normal operation of speddfan should look like, " i ran it on my desktop pc"

open the back of your laptop the big door and rip the film off the holes. I had the same issue. Acer covers up the air vent holes with black film which is retarded.

trust me open the back and look at the vents. You will need a small flat head to rip the film off. I did it and my laptop doesn't heat up as much.

It still gets hot but not like it did. I ripped off all flim even the one that looked like it has holes.

    Block vents

It does indeed prevent dust from entering your cooling system and ultimately clogging up at your heatsink, where it further impacts your system's ability to adequately cool your components.
Randall, have you ever cleaned out your heatsink vents? Something to consider.

I personally have left the mesh in, and clean that out about once a month with compressed air.

Hi, I have the same problem with my Acer 5315. What I did is put a fan which I had for a spare behind not under, where the cooling fan is and with this my cpu temp droped from 70+ deg C when it was on Idle to 50 C. I'm worrying if this can make codensation and short my pc, anyone ideas?

Try removing the cover as others have suggested. You may even have to remove the fan. I have noticed dust buildup on mine that gets between the fan and fins and is hard to see. I cleaned mine yesterday, and it has made a tremendous difference.
