I have an acer aspire 6930 with a T6400 processor. I understand that this processor does not have Intel hardware assisted virtualization capability, but I could upgrade it to a P8600 or P8400 which would have such support by swapping the cpu.
However, does anyone know if the Acer bios for the 6930 supports enabling the virtualization support if present in the CPU? I read that the Aspire 8930 had some bios hacks required to get it to work, and was wondering if the 6930 had similar issues? Does anyone have the P8600 version of the aspire
(AS6930-6073) and can confirm if the Intel virtualization support works on that model? I understand that a particular BIOS option is necessary to enable the feature.
I tried emailing the calling Acer, but they transferred me to India, and then said "they didn't have that information" repeatedly. I run vmware quite a bit, and it would be nice to know if I buy the P8600 and install if that would add vt-x support to my laptop.
Thanks for any help

Haven't had a chance to test it out b/c my T5550 doesn't support it, but I've heard of good success from this website (not just Sony's):

Does the Aspire 6930 support intel hardware virtualization?
