    Hi All,

I upgraded my Extensa 5220 from 512mb to 1.5Gb, but I've a problem and want to send it to Acer.

Do I need to remove the extra 1Gb RAM before send it?

    Thanks

It doesn't void the warranty, but you might not get the extra ram back. I would remove it.

Manufacturers demand that you remove all the upgrades and send it to them the way you bought it. They offer service for the system they sold and not for something you modified.

In that case, if I want to upgrade my CPU at some point, I need to keep the original on hand and swap it should I require warranty service, right?

I'd love to drop in a T8/T9 series Core 2 Duo and see how my machine hums.

That may void warranty, dependong on Acers policies It differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. Many (if not most) Asus's have a sticker on one of the screws of the cpu-heatsink that says "warranty void if removed". Dell, on the other hand, allows you to upgrade the CPU, but the warranty won't cover it if something happens while changing the CPUs.

keep all old parts... and replace notebook to STOCK before sending in for service....

that goes for RAM,, CPU,,, and anything else you may UPGRADE
