I've given up on there being any hope from them, I sent my machine to them for a faulty scree nand it came back scratched with a broken disk drive(not to mention it was gone for 3 weeks, and the first courier that was meant to pick it up never came, I had to run between the repair center and courier working up about 10 euros credit), of course they're not going to do anything if I don't send it back to them - and of course, I'm not going to send it back to them as I don't want it to risk it being damaged further, not to mention how long it took last time. It shouldn't have been damaged in the first place and there is no way to get any compensation from them without going through the same insanity that put me off them.
An unbelievable bunch of useless s, if you ask me. If you're someone who will work up any wear or damage on your machine at all, don't buy from Acer UK. I hear the support service is better elsewhere, but here, it's abysmal and I'm not buying any more Acer goods. They should be held accountable for this kind of nonsense, so it seems only fair to inform prospective buyers in the UK/Ireland.

In Portugal and Finland at least, Acer has a reputation for having a very lousy customer support, not to mention bad build quality... I think they just focus on selling really cheap and hoping people won't bother to complain.
-
Yeah, next time I'm going to do a bit more research and maybe just pay a little bit extra. Acers aren't even that cheap in Ireland.
-
Erm... the thread title implies that if I do buy an Acer, I won't put up with poor service; shouldn't it say unless instead of if?

The story, loaded with so much passion , does not offer much to the many.
Usually, laptop owners hide their mistakes , and uses screams to point out how right there was , and blast the other side .
The other side could possibly made a mistake , still by not giving them the chance to undo the mistake , its your decision , not them.
If i was on your shoes ... a simple phone call , will notify me about the name of the employ who serviced the laptop .
Few more phone calls to the manager of the service center would solve ,
the mixing .
Probably , its other the ways, that a man uses to sort out his problems, than womans do .
For instance , i never throw away , the original carton box of any device that i own .
This guaranties a safe journey , to the service center , and a safe return .
In all my years , never found a person or a company to be called as perfect.
In simple words , if you do not cooperate if something goes wrong ,
you can not blame the others , with out blaming first , your self. -
Don't know about yours , i've got mine from PcWorld Store in UK , and if they even hold it in service for extra week i can get repairs even out of warranty. Still I consider Acer a good deal for that money.
-
got mine from PCworld and they cover the laptop for the first year
my new 5735z is my new love and she's so sexy.
but i look after my laptops and treat them well.
my six year old travelmate 230 still works(just). -
-
but will have 4Gb ram tomoz
that will give me the option of the max graphics ram of 1244
Mb DDR2 667mhz
I have got the laptop i wanted, could have got better but half the bits i could have had i would never use,my aspire 7110 is just a home server now and conected to the TV and sound system. the wife has her 5315 she loves it.
my son uses my very old travelmate for msn, facebook and has that connected to his projector which is also an acer. -
Do you know how much those "simple phonecalls" cost? I was on hold for so long I ran out of mobile phone credit. I don't have a landline.
It's far too easy to be a fanboy and suck up to a company, putting down any gripes to RAGE.
-
The hot temper , and your excuses , will not solve your problem faster .
And also, every laptop support company , works by the same ways .
You call them , they reply ...
Find someone else with landline and use it. -
Still, you are more likely to get good results if you are polite, and anger will only result in you getting angry (obviously) and that's never good. Be polite but firm and tell them you want to get it fixed. Ask "what can I do to get this fixed?". If all of this fails, you can just suck it up (sometimes you have to...) or contact a lawyer.
-
its that word support. it just dosen't help when you get none.
if the support service was A1/great, there wouldn't be much use for NBR.
and we on NBR give our time and know how, free of charge.
God Bless NBR
all the best

Well as consumer , i do allot research before I buy something new , about the called support under warranty ...
I got Plextor CD burner , APC UPS , Olympus digital camera .... and yes, when I was in need for support , it worked perfectly ..
I had the good word of other people , about this brands , and it was all true, about the excellent support services at my region .
The best ever support , i got it from Olympus digital , If Olympus was made laptops, i would buy one with my eyes closed .
Still , in Greece , in this small country , there is eight ACER service centers ..
How can i believe, that in Ireland , its only one, and its cursed, to be run , by totally unworthy persons .
Any way , in our modern times , the Eurovilage its the solution , and if i had an issue with the local ACER channel , I would call another Service center in the Eurovilage .
They will do the job , no matter where they are located.
Don't buy Acer in Ireland/UK if you want to put up with poor support service
