    Hi all,

I just bought an Aspire 5633 with Windows Vista pre-installed. My goal was/is to get rid of Vista as soon as possible and install XP Pro, so I cleaned the HD with a tool that I downloadedfrom Hitachi, the HD manufacturer. I then proceeded to install Windows XP Pro, but upon loading in the early stages of the installation (blue screen) the system suddenly halts with some type of hardware/address error, pointing to a potential BIOS problem.

I contacted Acer and they told me I do indeed need to downgrade my BIOS in order to be able to install XP Pro.

    Can anyone help me with
    1. To what BIOS version should I downgrade (current = 3.5)?
    2. How do I go about this, knowing I currently have an empty drive without OS? Is there a tool available? Can I do this through FreeDOS? How?

    All help and suggestions welcome.
