I tried both downloads from ATI's website and the Acer support/download page for the Apsire 5100. After downloading the catalyst and chipset drivers, both times it said "driver not found". Can someone please give me step by step instructions and advice?

    Thanks

did you just download it from Acer or did you get it to work via ATI?

I got it from the Acer support webpage for the Aspire 5100. ATIs site won't work.

that's what I figured but few people have seemed to act like they got an ATI one to work. Just wanted to make sure i didn't miss something some where.

This is a common ATI problem. Their driver in general don't work for notebook, have to get it from vendor.

The work around is to download the driver from ATI then run the mobility modder from driverheaven.net to make it skip pass the check.

The driver is actually the same(even though the standard response from ATI said vendor may make modification blah blah and their driver may break things which is BS in most cases), they just deliberately disable it unless they get a deal with the vendor.

the problem with vendor supplied driver is usually they lack behind and for older model, may be completely abandoned.
