I had my first drop of my Acer laptop today. I turned it on, the lcd have 4 vertical lines. Now it gives weird BSOD error every 5 minutes. Reinstalled windows but still the same.

I dropped it on my bed, I was fooling around and it dropped for 1 feet. I was surprised at how much damage it has done. I'm sure never to buy Acer ever ever again. Well for now, how can I fix this ?

lol Unless Acer offers a option to fix consumer damage, or you got some special insurance. You likely will have to send the machine back to Acer and get it repaired--likely cost you money... lol

BTW, did it bounce when it dropped? lol

the lcd would probably have to be replaced/repaired by acer (or it coud be replaced by screentek -- google it) . . . as far as the bsods, i would check to make sure the cpu/ram/hd, etc . . . are properly seated.

    Yes, thanks for the reply.

I learn my lesson, I will get something with more quality. Falcon Northwest ?

I emailed acer but they insist that my laptop serial number is invalid. I'm out of ideas on what to do next.

Give them the serial number again. If they still insist that it is invalid and you have your invoice from when you bought it, file a complaint with the BBB. Acer is never going to get my business after what my friend went through with his Travelmate.

first of all, if your notebook doesnt look dropped than just call Acer and describe the problem that your having, just dont mention that you dropped it at all and they will repair it for you as long as your within warranty.

That should be under warranty, if it was 1 foot on a soft surface, there is no reason for it to break. I dropped my acer from 5 feet in the air down a 1 story concrete stair way, it still worked. (in a bag)

I think your motherboard is toast, generally lines on the screen indicate that, If I am right that would also explain the BSOD

Thanks for the replies. I've encountered many problems with Acer care, I'm just going to get another laptop. Acer has lost 1 customer.

I know why their laptop is so cheap... well it's good for awhile.

    Thanks again!

Edit : Great, now the headphone jack stopped working, I have to adjust the jack at a certain angle. Oh Acer, you made me so furious.

Generally lines indicates a either a gpu problem or that the lcd cable is not properly seated(what happened with my now dead tm4404).

If Acer has to have someone hold your laptop for you so you don't drop it; then I am sure they don't want you as a customer. :p

If ACER can actually be bothered to build notebooks properly instead of releasing sub-par quality notebooks, they might have gain a few more customers.

well ive had a few laptops/notebooks and found the two acers im still using.cheap(you get what you pay for)reliable and and easy to look after.
my old travelmate 230 is bloody bullet proof 4 years old and never a days trouble from it.my aspire 7110 is just for internet and emails and this two is working great.biggest thing that pissed me off was<why send out laptops with old drivers when you can go on there web site and the new ones are there.!
my sony viao lasted three weeks before the screen died.repaired then the gpu went bang. after that i took it back and got my aspire.
some you win some you loose :)
edit: and i haven't been on the sony board slagging them of.maybe i just got a bad one.

Again, if you want to get the notebook fixed, and want to stop hating on Acer. If it doesnt look like it was droppped, and if it was dropped on a bed it shouldnt, then just call them up and describe the issue with lines on the display and bsod and they will fix it.

Nah I don't hate Acer. Acer is good when I had it with me, dont' get me wrong, Acer is great for a budget laptop. I think I'm just unlucky and got a bad laptop.
