Hi, I have a laptop (Acer Aspire 5583) which support VT and is locked off. I have tried enabling in the Bios Setup but there is no option to turn it on. I have written to Acer for help but they ain't helpful.
I am running VMware and need the VT to be enable. Wonder if anyone have an idea how to go about enabling it?
My laptop specs as follows:
Acer Aspire 5583
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5500, 1.66 GHz,
2 MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB
Intel Mobile 945GL Express Chipset Motherboard
Phoenix Bios v1.3508
Many thanks in advance.

There is a procedure and it isn't too difficult. Here's the link http://marcansoft.com/blog/2009/06/enabling-intel-vt-on-the-aspire-8930g/
If your laptop is supported, then it will be really easy. If it isn't then there will be some difficulties, but the hardest part is already done. Still, there is a chance that it just won't work.
If you need any help, post here! I might be able to assist.
I enabled it on my Aspire 7720G -

Hi AndrejaKo.
Thanks for the link. Some heavy stuff for me to go through. I must admit I am a novice when it come to this. Wonder if it will work for Aspire 5583 as well.
Hi Meaker,
Guess yours is a Acer 6935g? How did you enable it? You following the same instructions? -

I used a different guide but pretty much.

as of last week win 7`s XP mode doesn't need VT enabled
MS decided to update it so everyone can use it -
I am on Win XP and is trying to install and run Mac OS Leopard/Snow Leopard. I have tried both VMWare Workstation and Sun Virtual Box. Both required VT to be enable.
I am trying to using Phoenix Bios Editor Pro to open up the .wph bios file. From there, I tried looking at the .rom files to see if it could shed any lights. Since it is in binary form, I am searching for a good Hex Editor to see if it helps.
Guess it will be a long process. -
Virtual box doesn't need VT... Mine doesn't have it and it worked as well in Linux as in windows.

When I tried booting up the Leo or Snow Leo, there is this error message prompt telling me that I need to enable to the Hardware Assisted Virtualization.
