Why do I get an error sound while exiting and starting windows on my 5672? I know the start up sound is same sound as Windows exclamation properties. You can check the sound in control panel under “Sounds and Audio Devices”. The exclamation beep upon start up is caused by Launch Manager because it stops if you uninstall it. I have not been able to isolate what is causing the one windows is making just before it closes. It is the same sound that is made when an error message is displayed however one is never seen. Anyone else getting this?

Does it happen in safe mode? ( F8 on startup )

If it doesn't happen in safe mode then there is a good chance that trawling through the startup items in msconfig may resolve this. ( Start -> Run -> type "msconfig" -> select startup tab )

If it does happen in safe mode, then your computer is DOOMED j/k, your probably better off attempting a reinstall of the o/s if the machine is still beeping when in safe mode.

    Hope that helps.

More than likely its a service running in the background that is not shutting down properly.

I dont mean this to sound stupid but are you sure its not the bluetooth and wireless turning on and off when you start up or shut down if the noise happens when the blue and orange light on the front go on and off that might be what it is?
