This recently happened. My laptop doesn't detect my ethernet card, so when I plug a cable in, only the yellow light at the top left of the port flashes, whereas the green light at the top right of the port does not light up. I get no signal at all. In Network Connections it shows that I only have a Wireless Connection and not LAN. Device Manager shows 3 Unknown Devices, however when I downloaded my Atheros driver from Acer's website the driver said that my hardware could not be found. Any help?

I had a similar problem on a 5315 when in a moment of weakness I allowed the latest (Broadcom I think) driver to be downloaded and installed automatically by Vista.

The ethernet device disappeared and I solved the problem by using the rollback driver command.

    Good luck...

I cannot rollback since I did a fresh install of Vista.

The unknown devices are under Other Devices. I've clicked all of them and then clicked Reinstall Driver, no success. I've also tried Windows Update.

How many unknown devices have the location: PCI Bus (Number) ?
    Check in the driver properties.

On my 6920G the LAN card is in the 'Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114' family according to PC Wizard.

This may help you to track down the right driver.

I also noticed it is a PCIE card running at 1Gig.
