I have an Acer 5920g notebook and I can find, in various places, lists giving the specification of "the" 5920G.
However there is no such thing as a 5920g notebook - what we have is a range of laptops all with a subset of the full list.
How can I get a the exact spec for my laptop?
There is a number on the bacik of the notebook which tells Acer eaxctly what is inside my notebook but how can I get access to this information?

I think you'll find that's the case among all major notebook manufacturers, especially the ones that don't offer custom configurations.
Anyways, you can get the most important information using a number of software utilities.
CPU-Z will show you your CPU model and what RAM modules are installed in your system.
GPU-Z will provide details about your GPU (since it's an Aspire 5920G).
HDTune will reveal the exact make and model of your hard drive.

Each Acer model has several digits after it that signifies it's specifications within a line. For example, my notebook line is the 6920G but the specific model within Acer's naming is 6428 - which you can search for and find exact specs online. It says this number on the bottom of your notebook by the barcode.
Exact spec of my 5920g
