Bought an Acer Aspire 6920-6021 from Audiotronic on Sunday July 20, 2008 and I love it. Thing is, I use it pretty heavily; I don't just browse The Web or do homework, I use it as a gaming machine also. I imagine this puts it through its paces nicely and wears it out more quickly than a normal user. I plan to keep it for my 5 years of university, so it should last until the end of April 2013. I looked online at Acer's extended warranty which extends it by 2 years (for a total of 3) for $99, averaging down to a little over $4/month. Although this isn't total coverage like Future Shop's service plan, it's still a manufacturer's warranty. Should I consider getting this? What are some of your experiences with Acer, its support team, and how likely it honours its warranties or do they just use loopholes to get out of it?

in your case it may be worth the $99,

but my laptop only cost $348 new... and while that $99 could save me money on a screen replacement of something bad down the road... if i get a full year out of it w/o problems i'll consider adding the extra warranty right before the 1 year is up...

you can add the extra warranty upto the day before the 1 yr expires,, as i understand it
