Hi all, Im thinkin about upgrading my 4420 to 4 gig of ram.
I know this is gonna make me look stupid, but does anybody have any tips on how to remove the memory access cover? I removed the 5 screws on the hd/ram access cover and it doesnt seem to want to come off. Is it snapped on there somehow? I tried to pry it a little, but it feels like its gonna break.
Any help for would be greatly appreciated.

first of all make sure there are no stickers on that memory bay that could have screws hidden under them.... if there are none then move on...

place fingernail or some thin object in the little area with the indention... pry up with slow steady pressure, try bending in the center of the cover (arching the plastic) there are TABS on all 4 sides that snap into to the bottom of the case,,, but i have yet to break any of these tabs.... the key is slow steady preasure...and bend up from the center ARCHING the cover....

you are doing fine just put more slow steady preaure behind it

There was a sticker on the cover. Underneath that was a small plastic disc that was glued on. When i picked the disc off, it looked like epoxy or solder maybe covering something. Maybe something done at the factory to keep people like me from tampering with it?

you may find this is for the COMS flash
if the disc has a solder contact on it.

    just a maybe,

1 Battery bay - Houses the computer's battery pack.
2 Battery lock - Locks the battery in position.
3 Acer DASP (Disk Anti-Shock Protection) - Protects the hard disk drive from shocks and bumps.
4 Hard disk bay - Houses the computer’s hard disk (secured with screws)
5 Memory compartment - Houses the computer's main memory.
6 Battery release latch - Releases the battery to remove the battery pack.

Do you have trouble removing the screws on #5..??
