Just bought this last week and found the drive is equally divided into c: and d:

There is nothing in the d partition. I believe it was set up this way to backup the other drive. I would like to eliminate the d: drive. Is there a way to do this with the Vista software or do I need a third party package?

I recently bought a Extensa 4420-5963, and like yours, my HDD came divided into separate volumes.
I kept D:\ to install a separate operating system, but I can help you kill yours. :D

You can create, modify, remove partitions by following these instructions:
    - open Control Panel (switch to Classic View)
    - open Administrative Tools
    - launch Computer Management
    - on the pane to the left, click Storage
    - then click Disk Management
    to delete D:\
    - right-click D:\, select 'Delete Volume...'
    - confirm that you want to delete it
    - right-click the Free space, select 'Delete Partition...'
to add the Unallocated space to C:\
    - right-click C:\, select 'Extend Volume...'
    - make sure the 'Disk 0 # MB' is on the ' Selected:' side
    - click Next and Finish, and your C:\ should have consumed D:\, so all your available storage is in just the one volume.

Note: The (EISA Configuration) volume is required for your computer to be functional, so it won't let you mess with that or anything. Also, because I didn't delete my D:\, and because I don't user Acer's backup software, I don't know if it will complain or anything.

Anyways, I hope that helped, and I hope the 10-day delay wasn't too long and you'll still see this post. xD
