The tray icon for the battery shows a red X and when the user hovers over it, the pop-up says "Battery Not Detected". I've had them remove the battery and put it back in a couple times, but that didn't help. It did this once before but then it corrected itself. This Acer is 5 months old and was purchased in the USA, but now used in another country.
Any ideas what the problem might be or what things I can get the user to try?
Thanks.

does the PC work on Battery power only???
is the battery detection a WINDOWS only problem,, meaning it works but windows just can't monitor batttery status??
if that is the case you may find Acer Empowering Technology Frameworks and Epower management programs are needed for the Battery's status to be detected by windows...
i'm not at all familuar with your model,, but i have seen other BRANDS that require monitoring software from the manufacturer to be opperational inorder for windows to see and monitor the device
