I attempted to install a USB Sierra Wireless card on my Extensa 5420 running Vista, and when I restarted the computer after the install, lots of things didn't work, including the keyboard, touchpad, sound card, and dialup modem. Now none of these devices are listed when I look under Device Manager. I created a System Restore point before I installed the wireless, figuring that if there was a problem, I could just roll back the settings, but for whatever reason, the System Restore point didn't save correctly and there were no restore points listed.

I downloaded the drivers from the Acer website, specifically the Touchpad and Sound Drivers, but after installing them, the system still isn't recognizing the touchpad/sound card etc. Any other ideas short of reinstalling Windows? From searching this forum I saw that some people have problems similar to mine because of a problem with the battery, but I tried the suggested solution (taking out the battery, unplugging the power cord, holding onto the power button for 30 seconds, then restarting) and that didn't work.
