hy, i have an Extensa 5620-6830 and offcourse an problem ...

The laptop comes with a IntelĀ® GM965 Express Chipset, featuring Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 with IntelĀ® Dynamic Video Memory Technology 4.0 8MB of dedicated memory, up to 358MB of shared system memory.

My problem comes with the low video memory that Windows or driver allocates for the graphics aplications. Each time i play a game, the allocated memory is too low, like it's remaining behind (the game is not so new age, it's Counter Strike 1.5). It allways allocates less then the graphics of the game requires. The allocation seams to be dynamic.

So i ask u: How can i set the minimum allocated memory to 32 or 64 mb? In BIOS the feature is blocked to 8Mb, and in the driver settings no such thing.

Faqs : I've managed to "upgrade" to WinXp(found all the drivers), the video driver is the latest from Intel suport page and i've upgraded the BIOS to v1.22(latest) .

    plz help...

Could Vista solve my problem? I haven't used Vista as OS.

The video memory is dynamically allocated based upon the drivers in use for XP. Unless you can write drivers, you will not be able to change this dynamic allocation.

I have read reports that the Vista drivers allocate more dynamic memory, which can improve some gaming. However, it really is a double edged sword, because Vista is a much larger resource hog than XP which could offset some of the potential gain.

    Clear as mud, right?
