Short version of my story: My Acer Aspire 6935g hard drive has developed bad sectors (and what not), and refuses to boot. Ran WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics which encountered too many problems. Tried Windows boot repair, D2D, Alt-F10, etc. Quite clearly, I have to purchase a new hard drive. Luckily, I have all important data on an external drive. Sadly, the system backup DVDs that I had created are nowhere to be found.

Using a SATA to USB adaptor, connected the hard drive to my Linux PC which showed all four partitions: PQSERVICE, Acer, Data, and one for CINEDASH.

How can I extract system files from the PQSERVICE partition of the dying hard drive to new hard disk so that I can install Vista using the CD Key on the bottom of laptop?

You can use a reinstall Vista DVD and use the same key to activate.
All the drivers and apps (except for Acer Arcade) are on Acer support site.

It's not exactly the answer to your question but it gets the job done.

These links come from Download Acer Arcade Deluxe - for Windows XP and Vista

(they seem to be the only working links listed on the page)

AcerArcadeDeluxeVista-v2.0.5105.part1.rar - download now for free. File sharing. Software file sharing. Free file hosting. File upload. FileFactory.com
AcerArcadeDeluxeVista-v2.0.5105.part2.rar - download now for free. File sharing. Software file sharing. Free file hosting. File upload. FileFactory.com

Acer Arcade Deluxe Version 2.0.5105 has a Blu-Ray, HD and 6 Audio Channels support.

Once you install it go to settings and run live update. You'll likely have to run live update a few times to catch all the updates - I did!

    Hope this helps
