    Hi there,

On my Acer Aspire 7720 I have (since a recent re-install of Win7) a curious thing: the fan is running loud, after 15-30 minutes of use, but the CPU's are cold (30°C). I checked with CoreTemp, the CPU's are not working (when idle), and temperatures stay low, but the fan starts to run at full speed, which is annoying (noise).

    Any idea?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Disregarding what any temp monitoring programs show... is the air hot that is being blown out ?

Could it be the graphics card/chip etc working hard for some reason ? Just a thought, wrong driver etc.

Just for interest, was the reinstall from the hidden partition or recovery discs (in other words what it originally came with) or have you put W7 on yourself and had to find all the drivers and so on.

Can't really suggest much else tbh, maybe others know more.

did you reinstall all the acer power management tools that came with the machine?
I know some people like to clear out the "bloatware" however sometimes this software manages the cooling fans, which will otherwise just be set at default.

see if any software like speedfan, hwmonitor or especially msi afterburner (uses rivatuner) gives you any control?

    Good luck
