    Hello mates!

    Tried to google and search, but didnt got verified info about differences between DDR and DDR2 so-dimms. My travelmate would like to have more memory and I'm looking cheapest possible alternative. 333Mhz DDR2 is fastes that nb can handle, but if I use faster mem like 533 or even 667, would it run with slower rate, like 333? Channle support 266 and 333 if I recall it right, but can it handle faster memory? That was my question number one...

    Two: is only external difference between DDR and DDR2 the slot?

    The voltages are different as well, so they are not interchangeable.

    If you get the same type of RAM, but faster clock, yes it will run at the max speed supported by your notebook. No harm in doing that either I believe, but since slower RAM is usually cheaper...

    Thanks for faaaaast reply :D

    Actually faster is cheaper :) I think that becaus new laptops use faster memory, it must be manufactured more, it cheaper. Customers doesnt need slower mem as much as the need faster. IMO.

    Here are finnish "price watch service":
    http://www.mbnet.fi/hintaseuranta/haku.aspx?Hakusana=so-dimm
    TUOTE = Product
    KPL = Numbers of stores that has that product
    ALIN HINTA = Lowest price
    KESKIHINTA = Average price

    I was thinking of choosing 1 Gt, 667 MHz SO-DIMM DDR because its cheaper than slower ones :) But it should work slower and generally all DDR so-dimms with 200 pins should work?

    Oh - no!
    Not every 200pins Ram works on every 200pins socket. Even if it is the same slot! The 5101 AWLMI i own is quite picky with its ram. If you want to be sure the ram is working with your notebook try kingston.com. They garante that the ram they sold for your notebook is working! If you want to buy cheaper ram be sure you can give it back after try!
    Normaly faster ram is working in slower machines. But if it really does is a question of the SPD chip on the ram! Not every SPD chip is programmed proper!
    By the way DDR II ram is quite different from DDR ram.

    Okey, I just have to try to get proper deal with my reseller that I can return the memory if it doesnt work with my notebook.
