Anyone know? It's a 80 GB drive, so hopefully it's 5400 rpm since 7200 rpm isn't available in that size.

I don't think they've disclosed this anywhere. I'd guess that it's a 4200 as a result. Almost without fail manufacturers make it well known when they're using anything but the slowest drives.

Can the end user easily remove the drive and replace it with a 7200 rpm 60 GB drive?

5400 rpm!!!
And reportedly over 4 hours of battery life!

Choose the Python D470K. Looks very nice. -
Ahhhh, excellent news! And yes, replacing it with a 7200 should be little trouble, though not really needed if you ask me.

bad news, the Acer Canada page says it's 4200 rpm.
Oh well, we can always replace it and use it as a Firewire/USB 2.0 backup drive. -
I wouldn't bother either since it's 5400 rpm.
If the 17" WUGA screen adds too much to the cost of the Python D470K the Ferrari 3200 will be my next laptop unless it gets some terrible reviews or has a known defect. -
4200 RPM. Acer gave misleading information, which is why PC Torque had it listed as 5400. They stated, on talknotenooks.com, that they would replace the drive with a 5400 version on the computers sold when it listed them as 5400 RPM.
