    Hey all:

After a lot of research, I think I am going to get the Ferrari 3200. I just cannot get past the really sleek, beautiful look of the machine. However, I read on more than one forum that the beautiful red top gets scratched easily. Are there any laptop shells that protect the outer casing. I am not talking about laptop cases. Is there anything that I can go like a tight fitting cover over the machine that protects it agains scratches?

    Ram.

There really isn't a cover that you can put over it to protect the screen, especially since it'll cover the Ferrari red. That's the whole purpose of the color, to show it off (I personally don't like the red, just stands out too much).
Short of going with Spets' suggestion of using shrink wrap (although it'll do the job), you can try buying a clear plastic adhesive film made by 3M (other companies have them as well). I have this film on my car to protect it from rock chips. Just purchase a piece are enough to ONLY cover the top of the LCD (not the edges) and stick it onto the cover. I'd probably recommend cutting out holes for the Acer name and the Ferrari badge (if it's raised) so you don't get any air bubbles. This is a one time try only, so get it right the first time, you may not be able to remove it without causing damage. But this film will protect it from paint chips and excessive scratches to the paint.
