    Hey guys,

I have been browsing the forums quite a bit to get some info on how people seem to like the Ferrari's and what I have found is people love them. So it makes me wonder what I should get based on what I need it for and the value.

Now the Ferrari 4002 has 512mb of ram, a WXGA (no WSXGA) with Crystalbrite it also has an x700 128mb with an 80gig drive at 1.6ghz

While the Ferrari 4005 has 1gig of ram, a WSXGA (no Crystalbrite) with an x700 128mb and a 100gig drive (supposibly a quick drive) running a 2ghz with a carbon fibre lid (just a cool factor)

I havent found too many reviews on the 4002 so that is why im trying to desparately figure out which one to buy, the 4002 would cost me $1700 CND while the 4005 would cost $2300 CND thats a $500 price gap for 400mhz , a WSXGA screen and an extra 512mb of ram, I need this laptop for school and some gaming, Im looking for something to play games like World of Warcraft or BF2 or CS:S, I am looking for a very clear picture as for the games i couldnt care if i ran them on medium or very high settings,

So my questions to you all would be:
-Think its worth the extra $500 for what i need??
-Is there much of a difference quality wise between the WXGA and WSXGA besides the resolution capabilities of 1600 or so to 1900,

I am absolutely TORN between these 2 laptops im a very tight buyer and would hate to waste $500 for a 'meh' gain in power or clear picture, so your oppinions weigh GREATLY in my decision,

thanks a ton for reading all this
    -Andrew

You may want to check the costco site...

    http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11095792&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=

I am browsing on laptops with AMD processor and found the costco Acer Ferrari 4005.

We always buy at costco since most of the time it is the cheapest...
Plus.. they have an excellent return policy in laptops...
within 6 months, you can return your laptop in any costco branch without restocking fee or return shipping fee for a full refund... Unlike others, the shortest is 15 days and most are 30 days return policy plus you cover the shipping charge yourself.

That gives you confidence that if there is a defect in the laptop, you would be constraint by time...

Then just buy an extended warranty elsewhere... extra 3 years if u want...

With regards to the screen... I have not seen the laptop itself so I can't comment on it...
But all the acer laptops I have seen in computer stores are dimmer compared to other brand (of course it cost higher).

In addition... I do in what I call a Finger Strength tes :Dt...
If you press your finger on the back lcd panel, you will see the screen will ripple... But since the Ferrari is carbon lid, then this must be an exception among the acer laptops.

However, since the 4005 has a faster processor... and If u can find a good price,, then I say that is the best option...

On the other hand, since Christmas is coming, perhaps there will be a sale plus the new laptop with AMD dual core will be released on December so that means the previous generation processor will decrease prices...

Interesting point for the previous generations dropping in price, maybe it is worth the wait to see what kind of sales happen, Costco seems like a good place however that is USD as far as i know, the .ca site for costco didnt have the ferrari laptop,

im just thinking of a good laptop to use for school and gaming but im questioning whether im gonna spend $2300+tax+extended warranty when theres probably something cheaper that is a better overall value that can do what i want,

thanks for the reply, any other thoughts? suggestions?

I think the Ferrari 4005 is a bit much for what you're getting - some of the money in the price is for the Ferrari badge.

For that amount of money, I recommend looking at the Asus Z70VA from CanadaSys - check out the review of it on this site. Don't spend more than you have to.

Also, the MSI-1029 is a good option.

yeah i totally agree i definetly do not want to spend money just to get a ferrari badge, im trying to find other laptops available on NCIX due to the fact i have a premiere partners account and only pay 7% tax instead of 15% because its out of province, they do not carry the MSI laptop you were talking about and the Asus one is just pure barebone with no drives, a question for the ferrari 4002 would be to maybe purchase a 512mb ram upgrade, do laptops need a special type of ram?

    thanks for the reply

I debated between those 2 as well for a while...
It came down to me looking at each, to see which display I was more comfortable with... RAM/HD can be upgraded, if needed, at a later time... CPU as well if you really wanted to up it at some point... but the screen, it stays with you until you get rid of the laptop, so go with the screen you're most comfortable with
    I went with the F4005...
