Ok so i finally got my Acer Aspire 1683WLMi.
Pros: Everythigns just so fine.
Cons: Just 2 things. The screen could have been better coz the viewing angle is just not upto par. You have to keep adjusting the screen if you are moving up and down to get the proper feel. And secdonly the speakers are crappy!
I was looking at the 4502WLMi too but the price was more and these two models are exactly the same except for the port replicator and the multi bay. But who cares, USB replicators are much better and the optical drive bay of the 1680 and the 4500 are also nearly the same except for a screw i guess. So it didnt really justify the extra price. Plus I got 1.7 instead of a 1.6 on the 4502, so im kinda pleased with this buy. Can someone tell me how to check if the battery is a 4 cell or an 8 cell? It says 4400 something on the battery, but no mentioning of the cells, anyone who knows can tell me?
Anyways I ve got one problem!!!
I tried virtually all the features and they work flwlessly untill I bought an Imation DVD-RW and tried to burn it with some data for test purposes. It reads it well recognizes it, but when i try to write with the NTI CD & DVD MAker the lappy came with, it gives out an illegal error sort of after a while and am unable to write. I tried a couple of a times but no luck. Can someone help me out on this please? Anyone having this problem too?

Ok so I checked and it is the Sanyo 8 Cell Battery, thank you for info scaramouche. Yes this lappy runs for around 4 hours on battery I can tell you that! But Can anyone still let me know what the problem is with the writer? I cant seem to be able to burn the DVD-RW I bought. I burnt a couple of CD's and they worked flawlessly. Help please! -
hi.. I got the Extensa 3002 WLmi (same platform as 168x series).. I agree on the speakers bit.. very tin box like sound... would have expected at least slightly better quality..
