ive heard that this is the best way (not to mention flashing from windows led me to a dead BIOS... recovery here)

create or download a boot floppy disk, copy the bios file (usually a *.bin), and copy the bios installer program to the floppy

Boot into DOS, at command prompt type command, which is usually something like

    amiflash 9811a.bin

    and hit enter

then you make yourself a bootable cd and integrate the two files mentioned previously--how you do that depends on the software you have

you need a BOOTABLE ISO file to burn to a CD (search GOOGLE FOR this file name(( Win98SE_Boot_CD_USA.iso)))

and you need ALCOHOL120 to burn that ISO image to the CD....

then you make a second CD that contains the DOS VERSION of your laptop's latest BIOS and the BIOS-FLASHER...

    after making those 2 CDs...

boot using the WIN98 boot CD (disk 1), and after system boots to DOS PROMPT (X:\ (where x is the current drive letter))

you then swap CDs putting the DOS BIOS CD (disk 2) into the CD DRIVE and follow the instructions incuded in the DOS BIOS.ZIP file

never mind.. i looked more closely at the failed readings of the cd messages...
i wasnt making discs the right format (ISO 9660) i was making them ISO_9660+UDF...
    so it couldnt read them.
i figured that out and the flash worked
now i just need to make sure everything is still cool with vista
