I posted a few replies to those having mouse and/or keyboard input problems on their laptops. I had a problem where they were unresponsive, even after formatting and attempting a windows install. I'm guessing this solution will solve most problems with this, and it's rather unintuitive.

Take the battery out, and run off of AC power. The battery must be removed. This should solve the problems, and I guess you'll just need to get a new battery. Hope this helps!
