For those who are frustrated with the touchpad lag (immediate non-responsiveness) after typing then lower the PalmCheck sensitivity to disable this "feature".

Move the PalmCheck slider to the fourth tick from the left in your Synaptics Device Settings under Sensitivity, hit OK, and the problem should go away immediately.

I updated my drivers to 15.whatever, and now none of the multitouch features or scrolling work...im going to revert back to whatever acer has, and do this for my touch pad. rep added!

It is in the Synaptics software; not the Windows Control Panel.

right bottom of screen with all the little icons, synaptics settings should be hidden there. alternatively open Mouse Settings in control-panel, and one of those tabs is dedicated to the touchpad.

nope cant find anything named synaptics, mayb its just not in my model? mouse settings in control panel was the first thing i tried. here is a screenshot:

tried every tab, not a single one has the words synaptics or palmcheck in them

Perhaps you did not have the Synaptics drivers installed, strange, mine was pre-loaded when I bought the laptop.

I guess you can go on Acer website and download the driver.

Looks like you have ALPS software installed and not Synaptics. Hopefully, you do not have an ALPS touchpad because they perform quite poorly.

yes i have the alps. dam....i knew something was off. the cursor has a slight delay when i try to use the touchpad, and i thot that was what the op was talking about. i also hated the "feel" of the touchpad, u need silky smooth skin to work with it, otherwise uneven skin particles will get trapped and cause extra friction. the touchpad is also small as hell, there is room to fit a larger touchpad.

is it even legal to use diff parts (ie. touchpads, screens, etc.) for the same laptop model?? thats pretty shady and unfair i think...reviews of this laptop complimented its touch pad so i never worried about it. Can't refund unless i sacrifice 5% too.

Why should that be illegal? Nowhere it is stated, what components (Touchpad, Monitor, HDD, WLAN card etc) are used.
Review sites can only write about the components they found in that particular device they got their hands on.

This thread fixed a chronic frustration with my Lenovo X201T tablet. Thank heavens. I'm a ThinkPad fanboy, but this new tablet has been frustrating. Now I have no delay but some skipping around of the cursor due to my palm.
