    Hi,

I have an acer travelmate but it wont let me boot off my cd/dvd writer drive. This may be due to the fact that i have replaced it wit a cd/dvd player drive (not a dvd burner) but wen i am working in windows te CD rom works fine. It just wont boot off the drive.

has anyone got any ideas on how i can try and reinstall windows using a windows cd or the acer software. any will do. without having to buy a new cd rom.

any ideas would be greatly appriciated.

I think you have to change the boot sequence in BIOS. Go into BIOS and try to find boot sequence, it should show a list of devices, right now it should be hard drive, cd drive, floppy drive; change it to cd drive; floppy drive; hard drive.
