I have acquired an Acer AspireOne D250-1042 but the previous owner formatted the harddrive. I have ordered the recovery disk and a external cd rom to load the software but nothing is working. I have partitioned the drive according to the specs I have received but the netbook will not load for the rom even after changing boot order. Any idea are welcome and looking forward to all the help.

Try using another external drive, the one you have may be faulty. Or, you could try installing Windows 7 (assuming you are trying to install Windows 7) from a thumbdrive via Microsoft's own tool.
