    Hello

I have a problem with the Free Space showing in the Properties section of my D Drive as approximately 38 GB seems to have suddenly disappeared after I installed the Need for Speed : Shift demo game from the DVD supplied this month by PC Gamer with its magazine.

I keep track of the free space in both the drives of my Acer Aspire 6935G. There was 80.5 GB showing yesterday in the D Drive but after installing the demo today this suddenly dropped to 42.5 GB.

I uninstalled the demo game but it makes only a marginal difference to the free space showing up.

I am really puzzled about this and would appreciate help from the more expert members of the forum.

Is it possible that somehow there is an error in the Free Space amount being shown by Vista and, if so, how do I correct it ?

Alternatively, have I done something stupid like installing the entire DVD to my D drive instead of only the game ?

When I look at the list of files in the Program Folder of my D Drive I see a lot of files I don't recognise - the largest ones are Group4. cab at 69,008 KB and Group5.cab at 483,950 KB but I'm nervous about deleting any of them until I get expert advice.

The only other thing I have done which might be relevant was last night I created a full User Backup of my C drive via the Acer Empowering Technology function but this looks OK as it takes up 55.64GB in the D Drive.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance.

Double check where the space in D: went. You can use this program. If that doesn't tell anything useful to you, try to move all the stuff you have in D: elsewhere and format the partition.
