I have a 3 week old Acer Aspire 5630 and when I am playing a game, whether it is a standard Vista game or an online game, the computer freezes. Nothing works to unfreeze it, i tried Esc, Ctrl Alt Del, and the only thing that I can do is the Power button. Please help.

So any sort of game... by online games do you mean flash?

That doesn't sound like the actual notebook - correct me if I am wrong - but the Aspire 5630's gig of ram shouldn't be a problem and the graphics should be fine for the online games at least.

All I can suggest is software... what software have you installed on it so far?

It first happened on a MSN online game called Peggle and then it happened with Minesweeper that came with the computer. I have not noticed any problems with Office.
all I have installed is the Office, Adobe Acrobat, Filemaker Pro software.

Got trouble too (playing solitaire..) but my guess is that the 5630 is not with all component happy with vista, I saw some errors in eventlog (app and system) with the Empowering Technology tools and ACPI (controller) tht tells me some BIOS trouble eventually...
    What you think guys??

Umm yes probably Vista lol - I always blame everything on Vista. I'd install XP - I'm pretty much definite that would help!

Seen as I can't do much more to help I feel really guilty and so because your such an obvious minesweeper fan: if you want to win hold SHIFT --> X Y Z Z Y and then release shift and press it again. Every time you go over a mine a pixel will show up in the top left of your screen!

Thank you for your help. I so much appreciate it. I sent an email to Acer and they said to try a system restore. If not, to try to do a System Recovery to the factory default. Will try the first one.
Thanks Lord Tadpoles for your extra help.

    Hi alq789,
BTW I completely reinstalled my Notebook and got the UAC off which I think was giving me trouble in addition I am using DriverHQ which is quiet satisfying (got just on my wife's dell XP system trouble by running it MS Visual c++ errors  )
