I am trying get Windows 7 installed on my 1410 but since there is no optical drive it is a real pain. Got windows 7 installed by doing a clean install using a usb drive. Now the problem is I cannot install the Acer software and drivers that acer included on their upgrade disc. I tried running the program from my external hard drive but that does not work since it says to insert the disk. FML...why can't they make it easier? All the applications and drivers are on the disk but I have no idea which to install since the disc contains files for all their models. Why would acer not make thier upgrade disc a download or something for their computers without an optical drive? Any ideas?

Get some software to rip the acer driver disc to an iso file.

Download Daemon Tools (freeware) and mount the iso as a "virtual cd/dvd drive"

Install the drivers from the "virtual drive"

    edit: or you could:

Create an adhoc wi-fi network (just go to windows 7 network area and create new connection, the adhoc option is in there) with a computer that has a wifi adaptor and a disc drive for the acer disc.

Share the cd/dvd drive on the network.

Access the shared cd/dvd drive and install the necessary drivers.

I did try the network drive thing. The program starts but then says to insert the disc. Maybe I did it wrong. I just right clicked on the dvd drive and enabled sharing. Suggestions? Both computers are running windows 7

How about going the easy way and downloading the drivers from the net?

I tried the Demon Tools method and it worked perfectly. Thanks so much.

I was more concerned with some of the software such as the power management stuff etc. than the drivers.

You just need all the drivers and Smart Power Manager, Launcher Manager.
All the rest are considered bloatware you can do without.
Please do not install the Empowering Crap.

    Epower Manager is not.
It has identical uses in Vista/Win7 advance power management.

All the required drivers including launch manager can be downloaded from the Acer support site.
