Hello all. I recently got a little nostalgic and decided to install some of my old games in my Acer, so I tried Hitman: Codename 47... nothing unusual, except that it runs TOO fast... literally... I've tried changing the settings, even from Direct3d to OpenGL, i've tried the maximum graphics settings, nothing, it moves like lightning... does anyone know what could be the cause?

Eek...I've seen that happen one time with one game.

    Things to try:
Make sure you are running in fullscreen
Edit the boot.ini and add '/usepmtimer'...see our dual core hotfix thread for that info
Run the game EXE within compatibility mode for the OS it was originally designed for...right click on the EXE, properties, then one of the tabs in the popup window will give you that option.

I've seen it happening on several DOS games too. Decided to run them on the native OS on an old computer (Pentium II w/ Windows ME).

It does happen with things that don't have account for faster and faster clock speeds, I remember Wing Commander III on my first PC in the US, it ran STUPIDLY fast.

There used to be DOS things that slowed down the PC to deal with it, but I'm not sure if they still exist or are really useable in modern computers.

For DOS you can use DOSbox. Also very nice if the game doesn't run in Windows anyways.

Man, it's getting tiresome... I've changed compatibility mode with Windows95, 98 and still nothing... it's still lightning fast.. changed resolution in Windows...

It's a bit of irony though. I often hear people complaining how slow things can go at that time (i.e loading takes 1 minute). Flash forward 10 years where Duo cores and qual cores rule, massive amount of technological advances, that app ends up running too fast.

    My 2 cents.

Did I mention already "try DOSbox" (if it's a DOS game off coarse)?

Could also try throttling the processor to lowest settings (if you can) that MAY help (depending on what the game is designed for and what your lowest processor speed is).

It s not a DOS game and my computer does NOT have a duo/dual-core CPU... furthermore, I've set up the CPU at 600MHz in ePower Management utility... this really IS a very very odd situation... tried all sorts of stuff and I'm growing impacient.. eventually I think I'm gonna let it go....
