Now before everyone rushes to say how bad Intel GMA is, please be aware that I know my hardware and I am well aware of how lacking the GMA would be in relation even to the ATI 3200/4200, NVIDIA 8200/9200, or of course anything discrete.
(1) First Question:
The reason why I ask is that I would like to pick up an Acer Aspire 1810T (this machine is incredible for 11.6") but would like to be able to play the following if possible:
ScummVM (Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle, The Dig, etc.)
Diablo II
StarCraft
WarCraft III
Plants vs. Zombies
World of Goo
*Titan's Quest
*Torchlight
*Knights of the Old Replublic series
*indicates that the 4500MHD could potentially cause issues for these games; if anyone has first hand experience, any feedback kould be kindly appreciated.
I have no intention of running Crysis, CoD4, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, or any thing new-ish for that matter. I have a desktop for that...
The 1810T model in question is #8968 (Silver w/ Olympic Logo) with the following specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 @ 1.3GHz
4GB DDR2 667Mhz
Intel GMA 4500MHD
11.6" LED HD screen (720p)
320GB 5400RPM
Gb/802.11n/Bluetooth
6-cell battery (up to 8 hours)
$650CDN
Thanks...but before I take the leap...
(2) Second Question:
How would the following handle the above list:
The Gateway LT2107H (a subsidiary of Acer) with the following specs:
Intel Atom N450 @ 1.66GHz
2GB DDR2 800MHz
Intel GMA 3150
10.1" LED screen (1024x600)
250GB 5400RPM
802.11n
6-cell battery (up to 8 hours)
$350CDN
(3) Third Question:
The i5-520UM/DDR3/GMA HD combo which will hopefully arrive for the 11.6"/12.1" subnotebook division hasn't been officially announed but I've been dying to pick something up since Christmas (call it a late present for good ol' me).
Thanks for all of your input...

I have the next step up from that and love it... I play a little game called Machinarium with no problem and no heat. In fact, there just isn't any heat from this and battery life is incredible. I love everything about my system.
I was a bit surprised to learn that, in my Olympic Edition, the ram is 800mz vice 667.
If you are in Ontario, you can also check out NCIX or another BC online seller and save yourself the prov taxes as well.
This little baby is so popular my son made me sell his Vostro for the 8110TZ Olymp Ed with the SU4100 that I grabbed on sale from Compu2000 for $519, free shipping by Purolater and no Ont taxes...gotta love it. -
Sorry cannot talk to any of the games you have listed but I can say that my 1810TZ with SU4100 and 4GB of 800mhz ram can run Halflife 2 Ep 1-2 with reasonable frame rates. It did slow down a little bit when I went to the full wide screen resolution, was still quite playable but occasionally would chug a bit.
I changed the resolution to 4:3 and it now seems to play smoothly.
Portal also plays fine but then is based on the same graphics engine so no surprise there.
"Gaming" on the Aspire 1810T Special Edition...
