    Hi,

I am currently using an Aspire 5745G-7671, equipped with a Geforce GT 420m card. Every time I play punkbuster enabled games, I get kicked from servers and an error (Restriction:Multiple Direct3D Loaded-A) pops up. Heck if I know what it means, I am not overlaying any programs. Punkbuster is kicking me because of my gt 420m, which they claim is a driver issue with nvidia.

does anyone know of a temporary fix since Nvidia is taking forever to release a new driver??? Its been like 3 months! I can't play Battlefield or Medal of Honer... Its frustrating!!!

well... there is already a very new driver (few weeks old)... If you havent`t tired it already... The latest WHQL (not beta) driver is 260.99...
    You can download it here:
    NVIDIA DRIVERS 260.99 WHQL

Note that this is Windows 7 32bit driver

    Hope this will help

    Cheers

if your laptop has Nvidia's Optimus graphics switching your buggered for awhile more, Optimus has well documented and known issues with punkbuster and other anticheat software. there is a huge thread on it in these forums somewhere.

A cursory Google search is showing that a lot of hybrid graphics and Optimus laptops are having this problem, precisely because they've got more than one GPU in their system.
It might be worthwhile to go into the BIOS and force your system to discrete/Nvidia GPU only.

EDIT: Dang, crazycanuk beat me to it.

active GPU. with Optimus it uses the IGP for final output and offloads all the final renders and display buffers to it. its also part of thy Optimus is completly useless on Linux at the moment.

and depending on the machine many will not allow you to set video card in the bios and then you are still forced to use the IGP and not the discreet card.

Yes, I have 2 gpus, Intel HD and Nvidia geforce gt 420m. To this day, I still don't know how to tell if my computer is using Optimus software..

edit: Yeah, there is no option to set or disable either Graphics Cards in the bios. The bios in this acer is pretty gay... Kind of retro.

GT 420? I'm talking about the gt 420m dude. Yeah, it can play BC2 at about 45-53fps. I recently overclocked my GPU a bit at 650clock speed. Its at 60fps now.

there is a tool somewhere to tell you which GPU setup is active, I cant think of it anymore as I got rid of my only optimus laptop. as for Acers BIOS, most are still the same way.. all we normally need is minimalistic.

Sorry Fluffy but it seems you and alot more people are stuck waiting for a hacked driver that works or Nvidia, punkbuster and the rest of the software developers to solve this problem.

here is one of the threads to follow, we have some bright minds in here working on it.
