Right im from the UK and im looking to buy the acer 8940g, cheapest option i can find is buying it from a german site:

    http://www.cyberport.de/notebook/no...-4gb-500gb-18-full-hd-gt240m-n-bt-w7hp64.html

Now i cant read german at all but gather the keyboard layout is different? My flatmate and wikipedia say the Y and Z keys are reversed, but in those pictures above they look like they are in their usual places, it says QWERTY by the looks of it. So what are german keyboards like? Are those keys reversed on this laptop? If so is it just in software or do they look reversed too?

    Thanks

Yeah i saw that on wikipedia. But the picture of the acer 8940g on the website is QWERTY. I take it thats probably just a generic picture they put up then.

Usually all keyboard devices in Germany are sold with a German layout if not stated otherwise. I've read the product description and found no info, so it will be a German layout.

German internet stores generally show the stock images of a laptop, which is generally a US one. However, unless they say it is a English UK keyboard (QWERTY) and an English operating system I would expect it to have a german keyboard layout (QWERTZ) and a german language operating system.

The keyboard isn't too much hassle as you can either learn the new keyboard or tell windows to use a English keyboard layout and then you just have to remember where the keys are. The main issue will be the german operating system, as you can't read german I would plan ahead and get a boot disk of Win7 and reinstall Win7, bonus will be loosing the bloatware. Running a computer in a language you don't know is a real hassle. I've tried it, briefly before reinstalling on my Aspire 5940g.
