I enrolled to get mine this morning.
Too bad free equals $16.11 in shipping and taxes.
But it is still cheaper than buying the software.

UK up now as well but
COA problems -
I received a confirmation email with a code number. I called their service line and was told that all I need to do now is to mail my receipt and my confirmation number to the proper address and wait. They said the confirmation number could be used in place of the redemption form.
Good luck all. -
It says "Please send in the original or a certified copy of your proof of purchase (Receipt, Invoice etc.) and redemption form to our service center in your region:"
Ok, where does a person get a "certified" copy of a receipt done at? I am not so sure I want to send in the original reciept, what if I need the original for warranty?
Another question..what did you do, just write the conformation number on a slip of paper? I guess I am nervous about this whole mismatch of information situation. Places like these tend to use any excuse to get out of things like this and rebates. I just want to make sure I do it exactly right. -
Just copy your receipt and send it to them.
I don't have a receipt as my laptop was a gift. What should I do? -
I am not sure where you are from, but where I am you can get your Receipt Certified (or notorized) from a doctor, public servants or government agency, a justice of peace, police, pharmicists.
-
When I called the service line they told me that the confirmation number that you receive in the email will serve as your ceritificate. They also told me that a copy of your receipt is sufficient. It just has to be a copy of the real invoice. As long as they have your COA number, a good receipt, and your money they will send you your software. Be sure to include your confirmation number and email address with your receipt.

Meanwhile I emailed them asking about if I could just use my serial number, or the like. Will post an update when I receive a reply. -
Has anyone actually faxed them all the stuff instead of mailing it. If so, what info did you put?
-
I am assuming that you would fax the same thing to them.
1- Your name and address.
2- Your confirmation number.
3- A copy of your authentic receipt.
4- Your email address. -
This system that ModUSLink has set up is poorly organized.
You get conflicting instructions saying you need a form to send in, but instead, you are supposed to write a number on a peice of paper, you find that out if you call them and ask them about the lack of a form. They say you need a certified copy of the reciept, but according to others, they say on the phone you don't need a "certified" copy, but instead just a copy. -
I think all they care about is the $16 and your COA number. That gives them a number to use and the cash to spend.
-
$25 for Canadian shipping.
-
I was advised by the upgrade centre I could just email them the receipt.
You can send an eamil to [email protected] (were xxxx is your region). I inlcuded the email confirmation that I received and a scanned copy of the receipt.
I was NOT asked to "certify" or anythink like that. I just did a direct scan of the receipt. -
Well, I did it the email way like Manny did.
Subject was "Confirmation of order xxxxxxxx" and I scanned in my reciept and stuck it in the body with the same line as the subject.
I wonder if us Acer customers have to do this at all since when I go check the status of my order it says:
-
For anyone's information that will be emailing this in:
The first time I emailed my receipt in, I sent the email in html format with the receipt as a jpeg. I got a response that I need to send my attachment in another format. I wasn't sure if it was the html email that triggered that or the jpeg picture of my receipt, so I sent it again as a plain text email with the receipt as a gif file and it was accepted with this response:

Jesus this can't be right.... I just looked up the upgrade price on that site and it's telling me 70 for home basic and 108 for home premium! WTF is going on here? I know we normally get ridiculous price hikes but this is taking the piss....

Heya, I tried Vista on my 8204 (MSDN license). It ran fine, but I ended up switching back to XP.
Vista is a lot prettier than XP, but they moved some stuff around for apparently no reason - I found managing WiFi networks a pain in Vista in particular as I move around between many different WiFi networks and Vista has hidden the important information between 1 or 2 more clicks than XP.
Then there's the most annoying feature ever invented, User Account Control. UAC. Supposed to make Windows more secure, it pops up meaningless modal dialogs whenever you do something.
Overall, I found Vista trying to get my attention all the time which is the last thing I want from an operating system. I want it to leave me alone so I can do the work that I am using the computer for in the first place. I find XP much better in this department. Despite the much uglier graphics...
My 2c... I am sure MS will improve Vista so I think I will switch to it come SP2 or so... but there really is no rush...
Good News! Acer Vista Upgrade Available.
