I am currently searching for a good gaming laptop for college..... I was wondering, how does the TravelMate 8204 play games such as FEAR, Doom 3, etc..... the New Next Gen Games. I am deciding b/w the TravelMate 8204 and Sager 5720. I know that the Sager 5720 is an absolutely powerful machine but i really like the TravelMate 8204 but dont have much information or info about the gaming on this machine. if anyone could inform me about this, it would be great......
    Thanks :)

The 8204 will play them VERY well...

Doom 3 isnt exactly a next-gen PC game its kinda last gen but im pretty sure that the 8204 will play it at all highest settings (maybe AAx4)

F.E.A.R which is next-gen will play better on the 7800GTX in the 5720 than the x1600 in the 8204 (DUH) however..there is no doubt that it will play very well on the 8204...Fear is a really intensive game and will make almost any system fall to its knees (especially when soft shadows are turned on..it makes my 512 mb x1800 stutter)...

The main thing about 5720 vs. 8204 is what do you want from your notebook..>

Is the notebook soley for performance or is it for mobile performance...If youre going to be stationary most of the time you're probably going to be better off with the 5720....but if youre going to be moving around the 8204 is no doubt the king here, it really is a beast....

Yea i definately agree....... See i am going into college next year( i am 17) and i starting to believe the Sager 5720 would be way to heavy to carry to classes. What do you think?
So you seriously believe the Travelmate 8204 can handle Next Gen games, b/c i am looking for a goood gaming laptop for my dorm but also mobile enough for classes.......

    Thanks

Yea, i am in college right now and i need something to handle games (for around 2 years or so) while be light enough for me to move...

It will be able to handle stuff a year or two from now just dont expect high settings...it will come to the point where you'll need to turn studd to like 800x600 but that happens no matter what computer you get...I really think that the 8204 is a very VERY solid choice

For carrying the notebook around the Acer has an optional media bay battery.
