Broken,
Sorry to hear that you didn't get what you were expecting. Were you told by Acer that it comes with an ATI 9700 (you have it in writing, an email for example)? If so, you may want to call Acer up and let them know you were mis-informed about the specs and that you want the issue fixed, either with a new unit with the ATI 9700 GPU or your money back.
About replacing the card, it's not gonna work. The video controller is soldered onto the mainboard. I don't think you can even get an ATI 9700 (seperate card) for a notebook.
I'd see if you can return the unit from where you bought it from.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply. The thing is I ordered it over the phone from a company called J&R and after all the trouble it took to get it to the Bahamas I really don't want to go through the trouble of having to pay to send it back and having to pay my US address supplier to bring it over here again. I think I'll just wait until I get to the states and buy a laptop in person. Probably will sell this one to someone who isn't into games when I'm ready to buy the next laptop. I'm just really bugged by this because I was waiting a long time to play FarCry and Hitman: Contracts. Looks like I'll be waiting an even longer time. And I don't have no email from the company to say what the computer's specs were. They do however acknowledge that they had ATI up on the site and said it was a site error. And they only say they can offer a $80 gift card. BULL****!!!

You may want to check that site again in a week or so to make sure they make the change, if not, this can be considered false advertising. If after the week is up, and still no change on their website, I'd then demand a replacement of the unit with what they advertised or a full 100% refund (including all shipping costs). This is something that really bothers me, dealers knowingly trying to rip off their customers.
On a less stressful note, you may want to try installing the games on your system and see if they even run. You don't need the ATI 9700 for the game to run, but just for all the graphics/performance enhancements. I tried playing FarCry on my desktop that had an old ATI AIW (7200 or 7500 GPU) with 32MB of video memory. It got into the game, but the graphics were messed up (probably not enough video memory and lacking pretty much all graphics support). With the Intel card, it's newer than my ATI AIW, so it may play the game ok with low settings. Hitman: Contracts may work as well because I think it requires less specs to run vs FarCry.
Good Luck!
