    Grinding Fan!

    I am having problems with the fan of an Acer 3620-100. This is a 14.1" WXGA model that has a similar fan configuration to most modern Acers. The fan is now grinding randomly. Has anyone had this problem and knows of a solution?

    My guess is that the bearings in the fan have started to go. Maybe you can repack them ;) Seriously though, I'd give Acer a call and ask for a new fan.

    Its about 6 months old, a little too young for the bearings to go in my opinion!

    call acer there support was very fast in canada. can't see it being slower in the US

    Perhaps there is a large accumulation of dust in the vents, a quick spray of compressed air may fix it.
