    Hi all any idea why i cannot get any sound through my tv when i watch a dvd from the laptop via HDMI? does the sound have to go through the spdif? shouldn't it go through the hdmi cable?

    Have you changed your audio output on the taskbar, right click speaker and select, playback devices, then set to hdmi
