    Hey

Im having a couple of problems after I formatted my Acer Aspire 5650's hard disk and installed my copy of XPpro. Have searched acer support... and dont have cds that were bundled here. Can you help me?!?!

Firstly I cant adjust the screen brightness through the reinstalled acer power management program, the slider doesnt do anything, as it used to.

Secondly, the multimedia controller buttons to the side of the keyboard dont function at all.... probably because i cant find a driver or installer package for this on acer support. Also the multimedia Arcade program, is missing.

If you could help, point me to the right download page to sort these problems out, i will be sooooo happy.

Thanks for any help or advice you can offer

When you first turned on your computer and logged into Windows, you were prompted to burn a CD/DVD which is the Recovery CDs. Now that you have formatted your hard drive, just hope you did not delete the PQSERVICE partition because that is the partition that is needed to make recovery CDs,

Install Acer eManager or Empowering Technologies and go into eRecovery and follow the steps given to you in the program to burn your recovery CDs.

    Multimedia Keys...Download Launch Manager
    Acer Arcade...Download from FTP Server

You stated two models 5560 and 5650:
    Aspire 5560: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5560/
    Aspire 5650: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_5650/

Thanks for your speedy reply and advice Vestige, much appreciated.

Unfortunately I had already deleted the partition and have not got the cd's in this country.

Its the Aspire 5650, sorry for confusion.

Ok, thanks to the links you gave me and installing Microsoft net framework 1.1 epower management is fully functional and my screen is back to its former bright radiant self. Yay!

The multimedia controls are working now perfectly, but I still lack Acer Arcade and its TV tuner/recorder software which i cant seem to find on the Acer site. So TV does not launch yet though hardware driver is installed fine.

Where can I download Acer Arcade?

Also one last little problem, my DVD drive is saying it is this... "MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-845S [CD-ROM drive]" when it should be a DVD-RW. Where can i pick up the right driver for this?

Thanks for your help. I know I've made it difficult for myself to get full functionality back..... but i guess its a learning experience.

On the Acer Euro page for the AS5650 there is a link in the Vista drop-down box that has the Acer Arcade Upgrade Patch. I believe you need to have the Windows XP Acer Arcade installed first.

So go to http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5650.html and download and install the Acer Arcade from Windows XP then use the Upgrade patch.

In the Vista section you will also see TV tuner drivers if you need those.

As for the DVD-RW issue I suggest you look over the specifications to see if it really is supposed to be DVD-RW or call Acer for clarification.
