I downloaded all the drivers from the Acer site and saved them to a flash drive. Then I did a fresh install of XP Home. Some of the drivers installed correctly, but many did not or could not be installed. I get several different types of error messages. I've tried to recover from the disks I burned upon first starting the laptop, but it keeps asking for disk 2 even with disk 2 in the drive and any other disks. I've checked in command prompt and found that the recovery partition is still there, so how do I recover the system from this. I can't figure it out! Thanks all.
