Hi everyone. So I finally decided that its time to reformat my hardrive and clean install everything so I could have it running like when I bought it without all the spyware and malware that it has now. So I backed up all my documents, music and video on an external hard drive and I’m ready to wipe this one clean. I go into the bios and change the primary boot device to CD then insert the SYSTEM CD that came with my Acer. I save all changes and the it reboots itself. Up until this point everything is running normally and I choose ENGLISH, then the "HARD DISK FULLY RECOVERED" option. then it says
"Once you have confirmed your selection, that operating system will be installed. Note all data in the first partition will be destroyed!"
sounds good. I hit OK
Please remove the CD from the CD rom drive and instert the recovery CD and press ok button to continue. The laptop automatically ejects itself
In the process of doing so, the laptop inexplicably shuts off without warning?
I've tried this about 10 times now and the furthest i've gotten is putting the recovery CD in but it always shuts off one way or another. Sometimes it never even gets to the screen where I choose the language.
I've tried removing the battery and running it just from the power adapter but its the same thing every time. Im sure this is not on overheating issue as I have never had a problem with overheating and I have left my laptop on for days. Sometimes it just shuts off seconds after i turn it back on. Im at a loss right now i dont know how to proceed or why this is happening. Could this be some kind of spyware/malware self defense mechenism? does anyone know a way around this? could i go into DOS and just FDISK the whole thing and start from scratch with the CDs.
If anyone has any advice or input i would greatly appreciate it because this is a time sensitive matter.
I have an Acer travelMate 4400 if that helps.

Look like I have had exactly the same problem with you. I have a Toshiba A75. I heard someone said that is because there are some internal parts get loose, and so I have to disassemble the laptop and then put it back together. I've never tried it because it's too risky for me.
There one more thing about my laptop is that I can't log in as Administrator, and maybe that's also part of the reasons?
Any suggestion? -
