    Hi all,

i have read ODIE's review for the 2012WLMi and am quite convinced it is a good laptop, however, im still not convinced about the battery life and about carrying it around campus. Im not exactly going to be trekking miles and miles, but i have classes five days a week and will most likely be carrying 1.5 pounds of notebooks and .5 pound of other accessories. I would like some advice from people who have either tried the 2012 or other notebooks that weigh about the same (6.5 lbs). Also if someone could clarify battery life, ODIE's review says that using the "Maximum Battery" profile will yield about 4 hours and that suits me just fine, however, if anyone else can give me some feedback on this issue i would appreciate it.

I get around 4 hours with the regular portable/laptop power scheme. That's with the 802.11g turned on the whole time, running regular desktop applications. You'd get less playing games or watching DVDs. Most Centrino based laptops seem to advertise a little over 3 hours, so I'd say the 2012's battery life is pretty respectable.

Weight is a more subjective issue. The 2012 isn't heavy, but I guess if you were carrying it around all day it could get to be a bit of a drag. I think you'd probably have to give up the 15.4" widescreen if you wanted a lighter notebook.

    Hey Kamiazim,

You may want to check out Compusmart.com, they have a location in Downtown Toronto (Yonge & Richmond or was that Adelaide) & another one in Scarborough on Kennedy Rd & Hwy 401. They have the Acer's on display, including the Ferrari 3000 (not the 3200). Give them a call and see which one has it on display. They're selling the unit for $2350...not that great of a deal!
